NEW: Bass Guitar Dot Inlay Pattern for the Stick Bass (SB8)

We now offer our 36" extended-scale Stick Bass with a choice of two inlay patterns: traditional bass guitar inlay pattern or our new Stick 4ths linear inlay pattern.

Bass players will recognize the familiar dot pattern, but with a slight twist: the sequence of inlays is counted from the first playable fret rather than the open string, which on Sticks is damped and not normally playable. We call this fret the "X" fret ("X" for extended-scale), and it corresponds to the nut position on a conventional bass. On the standard SB8 tuning in uniform 4ths, this first playable note is the same low B you would find on the open low string of a 5-string bass.

Dot diameters for the SB8 bass guitar inlay pattern are 3/8" for the first 6 dots, up through the double-dot octave position and 1/4" for the highest pitched 4 dots. The double-dot position is one octave above the X-fret position.

The SB8 model looks like a Stick, sounds like a Stick, and has precise low tapping action like a Stick, but there are also many features to make it more familiar to the bassist:

  • All 4ths continuous tuning (BEADGCFBb) or any custom tunings.
  • Wider spaced strings.
  • Heaviest Stick string gauges.
  • Active or passive bar pickups.
  • Switchable output: 8-strings in mono or 4+4 strings stereo
  • Now available with bass guitar inlay pattern
